  126. my niece's kitty passed away last week. (you've most likely noticed all the posts on my fb) she is 15 years old and adopted Princess as a kitten when she was 4 years old. They were the best of friends and slept together every night of every one of those years

Princess was family. plain & simple. so i felt the absolute need to provide her a memento of remembrance. i initially purchased a music box for her but after removing it from the box and listening to it at home, it was simply unbearable to hear the music & feel the pain. so i returned the music box & went on a mission to find something sentimental but not so heartbreaking....this wasn't going to be easy.

i stumbled upon a skateboard shop that day & was going in just to consider their Japanese food items. they had all kinds of kooky ski items including a DEAD fox scarf! i couldn't help but laugh! it was so morbid & so timely but still so silly. (to see what i'm talking about, do a google search for NEFF FOX SCARF)
when i gave it to Toot (my affectionate nickname for her)she laughed & laughed & said "oh that's so sad" and laughed again! :) MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! she wore it to school the next day and was able to get through the story and use the scarf to damper her sorrow yet still express her grief. RIP Princess

(a few days later when most of the immediate mourning had passed, i made her a necklace with Princess's picture in it. she was wearing it when i picked her up from school yesterday) who says teenagers are rotten??? >^..^>

  130. My husband and I are making lots of handmade gifts this year! My husband likes working with wood, so he made my MIL a beautiful bench off Ana Whites site. He also made 2 little doll beds for our girls! I sewed up the bedding and pillows for the beds, and I am so excited to give them to them Christmas day! (They are also getting knock off American Girl dolls from Target--so these beds will be perfect!). For my niece, we got her Beauty and the Beast DVD, and I made her a Belle dress to go along with it. She has also requested a "Cinderella Doll" so I made need to buy the Jane pattern to make her one!

I've made a few other things; wall hanging for my MIL, some beer bread mixes and dip mixes, cloth book for my son, car mat for my son...my sewing room has looked like a sweatshop the past couple weeks! LOL!

  133. Actually most of the gifts I'm giving (and getting, I hope!) are handmade! I'm pretty much an etsy fanatic! For my little brothers I bought them each a plush dachshund that look just like their own pups. For one of my best friends in the Navy I bought her a hand painted sign with her hubby's new duty station on it. For my own hubby I bought a home made laptop decal. This part is a secret...but for myself I bought 5 whimsy animal patterns last night! I guess they're actually for my twin boys... but still... don't let my husband find out! lol
